Black Books - hilarious as it is

Martin Freeman in episode 1 - an unexpected pleasant bonus!

As you can clearly see here, Martin Freeman is a slender man with broad shoulders.

Some people in the Sherlock fandom suggest that he is less slender than he actually is (it seems to me), probably because in Sherlock he is usually standing next to the taller, frighteningly-thin (at least in the pilot and series 1) and relatively compactly-built Cumberbatch. But he is not, you know, chubby at all. He’s a thin guy.

And look at his shoulders! Those are shoulders that can carry the weight of the world.

Why am I posting about this? I don’t know. I have cognitive dissonance about it. I am not really a description person at all, and I struggle to hold images in my head at the best of times, but I so often see Sherlock’s John Watson described as having put on weight after leaving Afghanistan, or of him having a kind of hobbity roundness. I don’t know. I mean, objectively, this guy is a thin dude. He’s a thin dude with big shoulders, as far as I can tell.

Martin & Amanda are VERY private about their personal lives and have kept their children out of the public eye. Those photographs were UNSOLICITED. They’ve asked multiple times on multiple platforms to have them taken down. Respect their wishes.

1. No, it’s not OK. It’s never OK. I don’t care how cute the photos are. It’s NOT OK.
2. No, the children at the Nativity premiere were not their children, those were the child actors in the film.
3. No, blurred out photographs are not acceptable either.

Amanda has asked on facebook and twitter in the past for those on tumblr to take them down. We talked with her about them in our interview with her, and she was visibly upset at the idea of her kids faces plastered all over the internet. She was also VERY thankful to everyone who rushed to get them down and defend her family’s privacy.

YES GOOD - Except for one thing. Let’s be honest here, fandom. RDJ!Sherlock and Cumber!Sherlock would murder each other.

It’s like they’re two parts of an extremely childish consulting detective. Cumber!Sherlock is the more serious one while RDJ!Sherlock is the flirty, joke-y one.

Wait…so if RDJ!Sherlock got flirty with Cumber!Sherlock…it would still fit with the asexual thing going on…seeing as it’s with himself.

Not sure what the John’s would think, though.
